“Why Will No One Play with Me?” — a question every parent fears, yet one that has become more prevalent with each generation.
Whether you are the parent of a child with learning differences, social integration issues, a victim or instigator of bullying, or just a child navigating the seemingly simple process of growing up, Caroline will introduce parents and educators to the tools they need to become their child’ social skills coach.
Referencing a collection of practices, this training can be tailored to age-appropriate social skills and competencies, including communication, problem solving, decision making, self-management, and peer relations.
In this group you will learn how to:
- Shift your communication style to coach your child so you empower your child to open up about friendships.
- Coach your child through social dilemmas using open-ended questions, reflective listening, praise and prompts.
- Learn how to overcome resistance and pave the way for your child working with you to learn new social skills, not against you.
- And more.
How the Group Works
This is a live, interactive seminar and participation is highly encouraged. Participation is not mandatory, and people are welcome to keep cameras off and not volunteer.
Caroline will present a concept, describe its purpose and how it is to be carried out. Volunteers will explain their own personal challenges and practice incorporating the concept into a potential situation.
This is a support group as participants share and provide advice to each other.
As a reminder: volunteers who offer to practice will be recorded. It is highly recommended that you change your screen name to maintain anonymity.
The recording will be shared with participants after the session and cannot be edited or adjusted for participants. If you don’t wish to be on camera, make that decision before it’s too late by turning off your camera when the recording happens.
This is a confidential group. Participants, whether recorded or not, must agree to never share the recordings or its contents outside this group.
“I really value the time and money spent with Caroline. She really got my child, she spoke to the full context of all that was happening – because she has worked with so many others in my similar situation – she saw patterns and had insights that directly applied to my situation. I highly recommend working with Caroline. She is down to earth and accessible. She helped make me a better parent and teacher. Thank you, Caroline”
